NFG 07 across waters!

Alan.fly, francisD,

My dear

Another little note from God… and encouragement to move out of possible comfort zones that so happily limit me.

There must be a willingness to dare in every miracle we ask for. It is scary to put yourself into the hands of God and surrender yourself to his plans. He is divinely “irrational” and might ask us to take a leap into the seemingly impossible if we want something miraculous in our lives.

Quite often when we are stranded on an island we make prayerful suggestions to him about what he could do to bail us out:

“Lord, send me a boat…..”

“Lord, let the waters recede…. like you did for Moses, remember…?”

“Lord, a helicopter? Do you think you could send me a helicopter with a rescue team . in it…?”

Or we might indulge in agonising prayers of feigned unfairness hoping that these might make him feel guilty for the injustice done to us and rush to our rescue :

“Lord, what have I done to deserve this…” (Most of us wouldn’t want to hear the answer to this one!!)

“Why me, Lord?”

Then there are also prayers of bargaining….

“ Lord, I will give up smoking (or drinking….)”

“ Lord, I will say my daily prayers more regularly….”

Often we are so caught up in our prayers, praying so loudly, that we cannot quite hear what he might be saying to us……..

“Step out off the boat…. let go of the branch…. leap out into my care……have faith!”

It is a wonderful experience to be able walk across the waters when we listen to Him and do just that.

And the strong winds will subside and the waters will be calm again as we read about it in the scriptures.

To walk across the waters we must first step out off the boat…

You do that. And it will not only be his miracle but your miracle too!

Take care. Stay well.

Love, Terry
