My dear
First things first: Happy birthday !!
Lots of wonder times and super exciting things to you as yet another year of your life unfolds.
I also want to share with you a recent important occasion in my life.
I left home to join the Society of Jesus on 20th June, 1963.
Some time back, 20th June 2013, was exactly FIFTY years later!
I did not quite realize the full impact of it then but over the years I have.
This was a little note I got from God long ago.

That’s my profile in the foreground. In the distances beyond you will see a winding road, a bridge of sorts, a range of hills and valleys, patterned half lit clouds and open skies above.
All of these, for you as well as for me, are metaphors for what life is all about.
All of these and even more ahead for me when He said: “Come!”
And that invitation has continued over these many years.
All this time I do not quite remember ever asking Him: “Where?”
Now and then over the years, though, I might have slipped up a bit and wandered towards places
that might not have been quite right for me.
Thankfully there was always a re-calling again and again and a return to blessing and grace.
I have lost count of the number of times He has kept me safe.
That’s the wonderful thing about God: He loves us unconditionally. He does not give up on us regardless.
Responding consistently and faithfully to His calling is the best way of ensuring that we live wholesome, healthy lives.
The calling continues for me and so does the responding.
With your prayers and blessings please be with me in celebrating a milestone in this relationship:
My Golden Jubilee year as a Jesuit!
50 years of Him saying “Come!” and 50 years of my saying: “Yes!”
I assure you of my prayers and blessings as well, since all of us in different ways are fulfilling God’s plan and responding to His invitation: Come!
No big celebrations here. Four of us co-jubilarians and a few people met for a mass and a modest supper on June 20th in Bandra.
On Sunday (30th), our Xavier’s Jesuit community hosted my family and a few Jesuits for a prayer service and a lunch in the Fathers’ quarters here. The family I was born in and the family I was called to got together for a really wonderful time!
And in December this year, all the Jesuits of Mumbai will have a common no-fuss celebration for all the Jubilarians.
After that we will all march ahead for 10 more years to the next jubilee (Diamond – 60 years) in 2023!!
There is so much to look forward to … YYYAAAYYYYY!
Other things happening here as always – Malhar preparatory noises and excitement as well as occasional heavy/light showers and I weave my happily through them and other things that come along.
