kezzy,
Perhaps it is even nicer to have an explanation of LIFE ! That’s where the choices are. Choices that can make a difference…….
A difference in the way we relate to people….

If I had only known it was our last walk in the rain
I’d keep you out for hours in the storm
I would hold your hand, like a lifeline to my heart
And underneath the thunder we’d be warm
If I had only known it was our last walk in the rain
If I had only known I’d never hear your voice again
I’d memorise each thing you ever said
And on these lonely nights, I could think of them once more
And keep your words alive inside my head
If I had only known I’d never hear your voice again.
You were the treasure in my heart
You were the one who always stood beside me
So unaware, I foolishly believed that you would always be there
But then came a day when I closed my eyes
And you slipped away.
If I had only known it was my last night by your side
I’d pray a miracle would stop the dawn
And when you smiled at me, I would look into your eyes
And make sure you know my love for you goes on and on
If I had only known
if I had only known
The love I would’ve shown
If I had only known….

We can never really know when that last walk
or the last conversation
or the last night might be…
So reach out now…
care more now…
listen more attentively now…
spend more time with now…
say “thanks” and all those other nice things
we often miss out on saying….
say “I love you” in a comfortable easy sort of way…
And if there is an occasional
hurt or misunderstanding,
as there often is in life
sort it out, apologise, forgive, heal.
When that last walk is over and done
there will be no regrets
but just a gentle breath of thanksgiving
for the memorable blessing
of having walked together for a while
through rain and sunshine passages of life ….
