(Calypso banana boat song in the attachment)

My dear

The contents of this mail are somewhat dated but the lessons are as relevant now as they were then.

A couple of years ago there was some breaking news on the terry garden front!

On most mornings one of the workers here waters my garden. He likes doing it. One day he did not come.

So I did the watering myself. Big surprise when I came to the banana plant – the first signs of fruit! YYYAAAYYYY !

The banana plant had been in my garden for more than two years. I had given up on it because it had been planted in shallow soil (shortage of mud in my garden).

I had dismissed it as incapable of bearing fruit and had it there just for green effect.

And suddenly that happy morning – YYYAAAYYY surprise!!!

Some days later another picture… “Grow bananas, grow!” as the cheer-leaders say!

I resolved then to be careful in dismissing anything and losing hope. In people especially.

Poor soil, shallow soil, unfavourable background, no opportunities, disadvantaged environments… whatever.

If there is watering and caring and belief in and love for, there always will be fruit!

I guess that is what I have also believed in and been doing in the Counselling Centre over all these years.

I decide to do it even more so henceforth.

Thank you banana plant for having taught me a valuable lesson.

Most of the other plants in my garden also teach me lessons of different kinds.

I continue learning. And growing like they do too.

Hope things are wonderful well for you and your own growing up continues beautifully.

Take care. Stay well. Drink water. Eat bananas!

Lots of love, Terry
