GORAI – 17th JUNE
They remember
the trees remember
palm and coconut
lining the beach at night..
their wind-borne whispers
reach out comforting
on the inner edge of night.
They cared –
as did the sands
and the early monsoon seas.
The rain rush play-danced with you
In the phosphorescent
glow of night you shared
with the swaying palms
their elusive peace
as you rested content
on a friendly lap…
Life’s gifts – these interludes
when storm clouds yield
to skies of blue
and unruffled seas.
It is good then
to be with friends
and share with them
the give and take
of love and care
that make our lives
so blessed.
I am glad
I was there with you…….
