My dear

Wanted to share with you some random thoughts about me together with reflections and some update news.

I do not have what one might popularly call an adventurous spirit.

I adventure more within rather that outside of myself.

I have hardly ever been bitten by the proverbial bug for travel or unchartered journeys across oceans or into wild forests or climbing challenging mountains. Not that I do not enjoy these as and when I choose to indulge in them but generally I am happy where I am. People have raised eyebrows when I tell them that I do not have a passport  or even a cellphone.

They assume I am missing out on a whole lot in life.

And when they ask me why I am not adventurous, I have an answer for them.

When Edmund Hillary was asked why he climbed Mount Everest, he solemnly replied: Because it is there!

I live on the plains for the same reason.

And no, my life is not at all boring. I cannot remember being bored for the last thirty years or more. There is always something for me to do and I do it enthusiastically. Sometimes there is too much for me to do and the day ends all too quickly.

Most of this happens on the so called plains.

I sometimes write poems and stories about the mountains, though. Quite enjoy them when I choose to climb them.

I have stories about my climbing half-a-mountain in Spain and in Kulu-Manali quite happy for where I had reached.

And I even remember a time when I did a U-turn and returned after a two-and-a-half hour journey towards Rohtang Pass in the Himalayas.

I did not reach the pass. I was told that there was snow there. I had already seen snow so I turned around and returned. You cannot imagine how much I enjoyed the journey though. Five whole hours travelling on mountainous Himalayan roads enjoying the unbelievably scenic grandeur all around me.

I do not envy those who love adventure. I enjoy their stories and I am happy for them.

Each of us must do what our heart asks of us. And climbing mountains or wandering on the plains, if our hearts ask that of us, is what we must be doing.

At least I see it that way and I am quite peaceful and happy about what I am all-the-time busily doing where I am.

No regrets about what I might be missing out on. It is good to be living life without regrets.

Take care, Stay well. And enjoy your own adventures!

Love, Terry
