My dear

It is good to be connected with a God who cares and makes things work out through seemingly impossible situations. Amidst the tiresome rush, wear and tear of daily life it helps to take time off to recuperate, refresh, take stock of what one is doing, where one is going and what one is missing.

Just to be there sitting in His presence and appreciating life.

Actually if we are open and ready and willing, He is the one who connects with us!

Sometimes I get these little notes from God. Much is added to my life because of them.

Here’s sharing one of them with you.

The picture above is not of where I will be and what I will be doing.

It is just representative and symbolic.

I will be off to Khandala for a two day staff seminar followed by my annual 8-day retreat.

I cannot remember having gone so far away for my retreat before. I have often made my retreats here at Xavier’s itself (isolated terrace room in the Fathers’ quarters) much to the amusement of the other fathers.

Sometimes I have gone all the way to the Bandra Retreat House. Never farther than that.

Many know that I do not like to travel. I do not have a passport and the last time I travelled by plane was in 1968 when I returned from a two year study stint in Spain.

Khandala is long-distance for me. But I shall go there this year and I am sure I will have additional wonder experiences. More open space and greenery and monsoon weather and worldly nothingness so I might not be distracted. Cleaner air to breathe. Pitch black nights which I like.

And basically being away from it all for a much desired and needed while!

So much different from city things here.

I am really looking forward to it.

I will return on October 9th, refreshed and ready for the new surprises coming my way.

Thought I’d let you know just in case you would wonder why I was not mailing you and where I had disappeared to.

And while I am away Kamal (my attendant here) will look after my garden and make sure that the green grows greener. There is a red rosebud in my garden just now. An epsilon rosebud. I do not think I will be here when it blooms but that does not matter. Nature has its own timing.

There will be other red roses after that and I will be around when these bloom.

Other things continue well enough and as I grow older and more experienced, I adjust more easily to things I have no control of. It is more peaceful that way.

All the best to you. More desired connections with those you hold dear.

And more refresh times and peace in your life.

Take care. Stay well.

Love, Terry
