My dear

More news from this side…. and some wisdom as always!!

A couple of Sundays ago I was asked to go to St. Joseph’s Church in Vikhroli, celebrate the 9am mass and preach on vocations to the priesthood and to religious life.

Before the mass one of the community  leaders asked me if I had come to the church to promote vocations.

I told him the I was just celebrating the mass and preaching. God would promote the vocations.

It was a nice vibrant participatory mass and I preached my sermon. I was told 5 minutes only. I miscalculated and took 6 minutes. I apologised to the congregation and many of them smiled!

After the mass a gentleman met me in a shop outside where I was buying bread toasts. He warmly shook my hand, patted me on my shoulder and complimented me.

My voice was soothing, he said. I told him that my throat was bad and hence my voice sounded like that. The sermon was good, he said. I bowed and thanked him.

He also said that it sounded as if Jesus Himself was talking to him!! I raised my eyebrows, smiled humbly, bowed again and blessed him.

It felt good to have delivered a message well and effectively. It felt good to be complimented.

I remembered another little note I had received from God a while ago:

It is good to accept compliments graciously. It is good to show off a bit now and then without bragging, without comparing yourself with others, and without putting others down when one is doing this.

We are all so blessed with talents and abilities. We are all blessed through the many things we have achieved in the way we have played out our lives. It is OK to show off now and then.

It is gracious and proper to look up to heaven and thank God for having made us possible the wonderful way we are!

All otherwise well and I am “chilling out” literally (weather) as well as figuratively (less rush here).

I did not go for the Standard Chartered marathon on Jan. 20th. I find it difficult enough to walk, let alone run.

Maybe I should renew my morning walks and the running will happen by and by.

Now-and-then weddings, birthdays and visits from dear old friends continue adding celebrations to my otherwise happily routine life.

Lots of celebrations to you too… this week… next week… forever!

Take care. Stay well.

Love, Terry
