My dear
Maundy Thursday today. His last days alive in mortal flesh….
Church services this evening – the Eucharist, the washing of the feet, his last long discourse to his friends and apostles, his final commandment to love….
Judas gets himself ready and walks out into the night.
And then He quietly but surely goes to the old familiar garden to pray once again…
We watch and wonder how someone with all that power could be all so crushed.
“Father, if it is possible let this chalice pass me by. Yet not my will but thine be done…”
I get another little note from God for those difficult times of my own life.

None of us ever lives a 24/7 all round the year perfect life. Torturous days, trials, pain, helplessness, despair, come to us occasionally or perhaps often. And we are wretched and crushed too, wondering what we have done to deserve something like this.
“Why me?” we ask, even as the pain continues unabatedly….
And we pray too : “Father, if it is possible……!”
At times we are even angry at a deaf God who does not seem to care.
What use is faith if our prayers and pleas are not responded to?
Maybe we do not recognise the answers to our prayers… so we are troubled and afraid.
Just like He was…..
“Father, if it is possible……
Yet, not my will…..but thine be done!”
During these days we will look again at Calvary, then we will know that He does care …
Beyond the agony of Good Friday is the glory of Easter awaiting us. The Father’s will is done!
We are not alone. He has been there before. He is with us now.
Take heart. Take care.
Love, Terry
