Another Sunday today.
On Sundays priests generally give sermons at some church or the other.
I had a private mass today… so I have not done my share of Sunday preaching.
Shouldn’t let a good sermon go to waste, so I have made a list of those who might like to receive and learn from one more of my preachy mails!!
May be presumptuous of me but sometimes I am like that too!
First a visual and a story….

A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.
He held it up for all to see and asked the students :
“How much do you think this glass weighs?”
“50 grams!”…. “100 grams!” ….”125 grams!” … the students answered.
“I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the professor,” but my question is :
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?”
He stretched out his hand with the glass of water in it.
“Nothing!” the students answered.
“OK, what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?” the professor asked.
“Your arm would begin to ache,” said one of the students.
“You’re right! Now what would happen if I held it up for a day?”
“Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress and paralysis,
and have to go to the hospital for sure,” ventured another student,
and all the students laughed.
“Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” asked the professor.
“No.”
“Then what caused the arm ache and the muscle stress?”
The students were puzzled.
“Put the glass down!” said one of the students.
“Exactly!” said the professor.
“Life’s problems are something like this.
Hold them for a few minutes in your head and they seem OK.
Think of them for a long time and they begin to ache.
Hold them even longer and they begin to paralyze you.
You will not be able to do anything.”
“It is important to think about the challenges or problems in your life.
But it is even more important to ‘put them down’ at the end of the day
before you go to sleep.
That way you are not stressed.
You wake up every day fresh and strong and can handle any issue,
any challenge that comes your way.
So remember, whenever you can, as soon as you can,
put that glass down!! “
The older we grow the more we might find ourselves balancing on the palms of our outstretched arms, an assorted collection of glasses…
And we wonder why we feel all stressed out as ordinary things of life become more and more unmanageable..
Me too. I often have the feeling that I have more glasses than I can handle and there isn’t any place down that I can put them either.
My imagination, of course…. I am not indispensable!
The earth will spin around just the same even if I put those glasses down…
And I will surely become more serene and composed for having done that…
Go thou and do likewise. Amen!
All else is well. Take care. Love, Terry
