My dear

Long time… and I hope things are great with you.

Some news from this side.

I am definitely not a great one for adventures of any kind. Not normally. And I am quite comfortable climbing up only half-a-mountain if that’s what I want to be doing. Snow covered mountain peaks are beautiful from the foothills as well! The day I want to climb up higher I will.

But for now I am OK with being where I am and going about doing my usual things.

It came as a bit of a surprise when, quite recently, an old student friend who owns a sailing company (Aquasail) invited four of us fathers for a sailing experience off the Gateway of India.

I had half a mind not to go but I am glad that the other half prevailed.

Spit and polish little speed boat from the Gateway to the sailboat that was anchored a little way off, sailboat motored off a little way into the sea, motor shut off and sails hoisted and we upped and downed the nearby seas for about an hour learning to handle the sailboat somewhat amateurishly but well enough. Our competent and confident “skipper” was an 18-year old lass from the UK who has been sailing since the age of 5! The four of us fathers took turns at the tiller and the sails, speeding the boat and slowing it, turning it around and guiding it between gaps in the fishing buoys or just leaning back and enjoying the quiet-swift flow with the swish-swash sound of the waters around us and the flip-flap breeze play on the sails.

All in all a wonderful outing and I am glad I did it.

Who knows, someday I might even try sky-diving!

Photographic evidence… just in case.

The boat in the background picture with all of us sitting down and facing the camera is not the one we sailed on but another fancier sailboat (just sailed in from Cape Town, South Africa) with two bedrooms/bathrooms/kitchen/lounge and other comforts that would make a round-the-world sailing trip possible and enjoyable.

Maybe someday!!!

Quite possibly you have gone on more exciting tours and trips on fancier boats and flights and river-rafts and whatever else, so I am not specially privileged.

Just thought I would share with you all a small new and exciting experience I had. There is pleasure in life’s little joys as well.

Regular testing and counselling work continues but a counsellor friend from Kolkata has come over for a month to help me out. I leave her with most of the work and I chill out a bit. She prefers it that way so everyone is happy.

Meanwhile there is the hot weather and here-and-there things to adjust to and live with. I do that and life goes on… as it always does.

Good happenings to you too!

Take care. Stay well.

Lots of love, Terry.
