It started with a wet rainy evening last Saturday. Thunder and flash/fork lightning as well.
I really love monsoony sky-darkened flash-lit late evenings with the heavy pattering rain fall sounds. And the whisper-wet nip-in-the-air feel with the promise of a good night’s sleep.
More rain the whole of Sunday… and it’s been going on like that… occasional brief heavy showers and consistently overcast skies.
Today’s newspapers say that this might go on till the middle of the month. Hopefully the lakes supplying water to the city will get full ….
It is a good to be indoors when it is like this outside and I quite enjoy the cosy comfortable feeling at times like these ….

The monsoon gods must have been reading the newspapers and in a last-minute fit of hesitant generosity are sending token relief to a city that is being threatened with a water-cut till the next monsoons.
Meanwhile the papers also report heavy floods in Karnataka and Andhra and Goa….
Fickle and whimsical monsoon gods!
And yet we continue to pray to them. No choice about that.
The rains will come and go and we will continue growing older as gracefully as we can….adjusting our way through life…
We have done it before and we will do it again.
