It is a pity that Sundays come only once a week! Fortunately there are occasional public holidays that can be comfortably enjoyed. I look forward to days like these which are always a welcome break from this season’s rush-rush counselling.. and I indulge myself in sending mails, inbetween relaxation.. and a bit of garden exercise. During the week this happens as well but very much small scale. Today is another busy weekday… oh well!
It looks a much better now, my once careless cluttered garden. I am fortunate to have a backyard that was earlier used for dumping broken furniture, smashed glass and large quantities of rubble. It was out of the regular college sight so the careless cluttered disarray there did not quite matter to the general public. It mattered to me because my door opened up to it.
Instead of making futile requests to stop dumping stuff there, I built the garden. End of dumping, better view and ambience for me and something I can tend to when I am not all immersed in counselling and related work. There is a moral to this but I shall leave you to figure it out!
Here you have a collage of a bit of the garden….
In the right hand bottom is a clutter of plants just in front of my back door. There is the first tomato visible slightly to the right. In the bottom left is a patch that is much more luxuriant now than when I took the picture. With some assistance I had to personally dig through a cement slab to access the rough mud below. I bought garden soil and manure, laid that on top and did some planting on that. There is an old volleyball net stretched against the wall for the creepers/climbers to find their way up on. On the top of the collage is a collection of bleeding hearts (I think that is what they are called) for visual effect.
I get a bit exhausted with the exercise required to be doing this but it is well worth it. The rains will come again soon and I am sure much more green and beautiful will happen.
You are welcome to visit… or make plant contributions if you want to. I’d love that. And I will also remember you whenever I am watering my garden!
The past few weeks have been really hectic at counselling. Crowds coming in and I am all knotted up with weariness attending to them. Very satisfying, though, when I see the grateful look of relief on the faces of parents and students who have some of their confusion sorted out. More on the same lines during the coming weeks.
I continue looking forward to the first rains….
All otherwise well and I shall continue to make the necessary adjustments to rush-work and hot-weather!
Blessings that you might do the same and even more!
Love, Terry
