It’s been a very long wait but finally it happened! A butterfly came into my garden a couple of days ago.

Seems a little silly to be excited about something like that but I was excited. My garden is mostly green… hardly any flowers…. so a visit from a butterfly is not what one would expect. Smaller yellow butterflies have been coming by recently but this big black one was a real surprise!

It flitted around for a while, made a few brief stop-overs on some of the leaves and then flitted away.

Maybe it will come again and bring other butterflies with it. I shall wait and see.

By the way, the butterfly is not as huge as it seems in the picture. Photoshop again… but just so that you could get a clearer view.

Like I said it seems a little silly to get excited about a passing butterfly. Like it might seem silly to get excited about so many of the small and occasional things in life. The big things hit us bang in the face and we jump around celebrating as if time were running out : weddings and jubilees and milestone birthdays and other splash occasions. It is nice that we do this too.

But the small occasions count as well and one can also rejoice for them : a phone call … a mail….a stretch-time together following a surprise visit… an unexpected no-occasion gift… all so much like occasional butterflies in one’s little garden.

I am glad I have these happening to me all the time … and I am glad that I am able to celebrate them too!

And life goes on more pleasantly because of the little things …

That butterfly came back a couple of times on other days and maybe there is a message there of other happy visitors I shall have particularly during the Christmas vacations.

There will be surely be other surprises too… life is so full of them…

All else well and I shall cope comfortably with the rush of things as the days speed towards the happy Christmas season… peace and rest and occasional joyful celebrations with festive meals typical of those times!

You take care. And more butterfly times and things to you.

Love, Terry
