It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing You start feeling insecure <\/strong><\/p>\n and wonder where you will be in a year or two, <\/strong><\/p>\n but then get scared <\/strong><\/p>\n because you barely know where you are now.<\/p>\n You start realizing <\/strong><\/p>\n that people are selfish and that, maybe, <\/strong><\/p>\n those friends that you thought you were so close to <\/strong><\/p>\n aren’t exactly the greatest people you have ever met, <\/strong><\/p>\n and the people you have lost touch with <\/strong><\/p>\n are some of the most important ones. <\/strong><\/p>\n What you don’t recognize is <\/strong><\/p>\n that they are realizing that too, <\/strong><\/p>\n and aren’t really cold, catty, mean or insincere, <\/strong><\/p>\n but that they are as confused as you.<\/p>\n You look at your job… <\/strong><\/p>\n and it is not even close to <\/strong><\/p>\n what you thought you would be doing, <\/strong><\/p>\n or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing <\/strong><\/p>\n that you are going to have to start at the bottom <\/strong><\/p>\n and that scares you.<\/p>\n Your opinions have gotten stronger. <\/strong><\/p>\n You see what others are doing <\/strong><\/p>\n and find yourself judging more than usual <\/strong><\/p>\n because suddenly you realize <\/strong><\/p>\n that you have certain boundaries in your life <\/strong><\/p>\n and are constantly adding things to your list of <\/strong><\/p>\n what is acceptable and what isn’t. <\/strong><\/p>\n One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure.<\/p>\n You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. <\/strong><\/p>\n You feel alone and scared and confused. <\/strong><\/p>\n Suddenly, change is the enemy <\/strong><\/p>\n and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, <\/strong><\/p>\n but soon realize that the past <\/strong><\/p>\n is drifting further and further away, <\/strong><\/p>\n and there is nothing to do <\/strong><\/p>\n but stay where you are or move forward.<\/p>\n You get your heart broken and wonder <\/strong><\/p>\n how someone you loved could do such damage to you. <\/strong><\/p>\n Or you lie in bed and wonder why <\/strong><\/p>\n you can’t meet anyone decent enough <\/strong><\/p>\n that you want to get to know better. <\/strong><\/p>\n Or maybe you love someone <\/strong><\/p>\n but love someone else too <\/strong><\/p>\n and cannot figure out why you’re doing this <\/strong><\/p>\n because you know that you aren’t a bad person. <\/strong><\/p>\n One night stands and random hook ups <\/strong><\/p>\n start to look cheap. <\/strong><\/p>\n Getting wasted and acting like an idiot <\/strong><\/p>\n starts to look pathetic. <\/strong><\/p>\n You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, <\/strong><\/p>\n and talk with your friends about the same topics <\/strong><\/p>\n because you cannot seem to make a decision. <\/strong><\/p>\n You worry about loans, money, the future <\/strong><\/p>\n and making a life for yourself… <\/strong><\/p>\n and while winning the race would be great, <\/strong><\/p>\n right now you’d just like to be a contender!<\/p>\n You\u00a0are in your best of times and the worst of times, <\/strong><\/p>\n trying as hard as you can <\/strong><\/p>\n to figure this whole thing out.<\/p>\n It is called the “Quarter-life Crisis.”<\/strong><\/p>\n You could make it the “Quarter-life Challenge” !<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0 author unknown.<\/p>\n You will survive this, for sure… and even more than that! You will come out right on top!<\/p>\n And this will help you all the more through the challenges of “mid-life” and “old” that will come soon enough.<\/p>\n The best is yet to happen. You can make it happen. Start looking forward to that !<\/p>\n It is not a question of just being positive or negative.<\/p>\n It is a question of being real!<\/p>\n “Senior citizen” that I am now, I went through much of all this myself but I did not know at that time what I was going through and what I had to be doing.<\/p>\n Thankfully things have turned out well enough for me, so no regrets….<\/p>\n Life otherwise goes on quite happily for me even as Xavier\u2019s continues to be a way of life!<\/p>\n And yes, for me too, the best is yet to happen.<\/p>\n So I continue looking forward…..<\/p>\n You do that too!<\/p>\n See you whenever…<\/p>\n Take care.
