My dear<\/p>\n
The contents of this mail are somewhat dated but the lessons are as relevant now as they were then.<\/p>\n
A couple of years ago there was some breaking news on the terry garden front!<\/p>\n
On most mornings one of the workers here waters my garden. He likes doing it. One day he did not come.<\/p>\n
So I did the watering myself. Big surprise when I came to the banana plant \u2013 the first signs of fruit! YYYAAAYYYY !<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The banana plant had been in my garden for more than two years. I had given up on it because it had been planted in shallow soil (shortage of mud in my garden).<\/p>\n
I had dismissed it as incapable of bearing fruit and had it there just for green effect.<\/p>\n
And suddenly that happy morning \u2013 YYYAAAYYY surprise!!!<\/p>\n
Some days later another picture… \u201cGrow bananas, grow!\u201d as the cheer-leaders say!<\/p>\n

I resolved then to be careful in dismissing anything and losing hope. In people especially.<\/p>\n
Poor soil, shallow soil, unfavourable background, no opportunities, disadvantaged environments… whatever.<\/p>\n
If there is watering and caring and belief in and love for, there always will be fruit!<\/p>\n
I guess that is what I have also believed in and been doing in the Counselling Centre over all these years.<\/p>\n
I decide to do it even more so henceforth.<\/p>\n
Thank you banana plant for having taught me a valuable lesson.<\/p>\n
Most of the other plants in my garden also teach me lessons of different kinds.<\/p>\n
I continue learning. And growing like they do too.<\/p>\n
