My dear<\/p>\n

This is one from a collection of 7 poems I have written on Biblical themes.<\/p>\n

A fellow Jesuit here \u2013 Wendell D\u2019Cruz \u2013 did the artwork using paint on leaves and additional art inclusions. Distinct Biblical themes were taken and leaf arrangements were meant to symbolise these themes.<\/p>\n

The whole thing was appropriately titled \u201cListening to the Leaves\u201d.<\/p>\n

This one is particularly appropriate for Lent \u2013 our sinfulness and the redeeming grace that awaits us.<\/p>\n

THE WICKEDNESS OF MAN<\/strong><\/p>\n

Decay the leaves, reek, rot abound.<\/p>\n

stalk evil slithers\u00a0 underground.<\/p>\n

Rebellious fist to heaven raised<\/p>\n

Freedom abused, man\u2019s wretched choice<\/p>\n

Love-gift refused, abandoned grace.<\/p>\n

Wintered trees, leaves hold no life.<\/p>\n

Blaze sun darkened, rule storm and strife.<\/p>\n

Why this? Whence man? And whither now?<\/p>\n

Why curse invite? Why evil heart embrace?<\/p>\n

Why shut on self the doors to heaven\u2019s grace?<\/p>\n

In celestial light God weaves divine plan<\/p>\n

With love, out-hearts stone heart of man.<\/p>\n

Love unfolds, choice again He gives.<\/p>\n

From death, man can now choose to live.<\/p>\n

It is good to be able to make a choice for living.<\/p>\n

And it is comforting to know that His grace is unconditionally there for us to make this choice possible.<\/p>\n

This makes Lent what it really meant to be \u2013 a joyful season of coming back home to Him!<\/p>\n

Things otherwise well with me and sauntering along. No rush just now because everyone is busy with winding up classes and related things and getting ready for the end-sem exams. My big-time summer rush will begin \u00a0in April and go on all the way till college reopens in June. I am ready for it.. so no sweat!<\/p>\n
