Why from green to purple<\/strong> now? Thought you might like to know.<\/p>\n The color purple <\/strong>is used in the Church liturgy during seasons of preparation.<\/p>\n These two seasons are Advent (i.e., weeks leading up to Christmas)<\/p>\n and Lent (i.e., weeks leading up to Easter).<\/p>\n In the Bible one finds the underlying reasons as to why purple <\/strong>is chosen for<\/p>\n these seasons.<\/p>\n In particular, Mark 15: Verses 16-20 summarize how the soldiers<\/p>\n led\u00a0Jesus away after he was condemned to die, dressed him in a purple <\/strong>robe,<\/p>\n placed a crown of thorns on his head, and mocked him by saying:<\/p>\n \u201cHail, king of the Jews.\u201d<\/p>\n Another example exists in John 19: Verses 1-5<\/p>\n in which events are similarly explained.<\/p>\n Therefore, it is apparent that purple<\/strong> is the perfect symbolic color to use<\/p>\n during the liturgical seasons in which the church prepares<\/p>\n for its King\u2019s birth and then for his death.<\/p>\n Now you know.<\/p>\n The external colour does not matter.
