shell strewn silent shores<\/p>\n
and watch the sailings by<\/p>\n
of other ships and boats.<\/p>\n
Your own<\/p>\n
I see so often<\/p>\n
sleek and swift<\/p>\n
wind filled sails<\/p>\n
hurrying to destinies<\/p>\n
beyond the rim<\/p>\n
of safe and sound.<\/p>\n
You’re bolder now<\/p>\n
and more in charge<\/p>\n
your own captain<\/p>\n
and first mate<\/p>\n
familiar with<\/p>\n
the winds and seas<\/p>\n
friend now of night stars<\/p>\n
that help chart course<\/p>\n
across calm or choppy seas.<\/p>\n
And yes,<\/p>\n
sometimes it is good<\/p>\n
to sail alone<\/p>\n
and take the risks<\/p>\n
that make for better growing.<\/p>\n
It is good too<\/p>\n
to sometimes sail<\/p>\n
with others<\/p>\n
to learn and teach<\/p>\n
new seas and shores<\/p>\n
new distances and dreams.<\/p>\n
Sea and sky<\/p>\n
are much too big<\/p>\n
to adventure on<\/p>\n
all alone.<\/p>\n
I’m glad we share<\/p>\n
at least some bits<\/p>\n
of our sailings…<\/p>\n
We spend<\/p>\n
at least some time<\/p>\n
on common shores.<\/p>\n
