Unnoticed… easily passed by<\/p>\n
Wild flowers, country flowers.<\/p>\n
hidden in the ordinary<\/p>\n
of all-around shrubs<\/p>\n
and half-trampled\u00a0grass<\/p>\n
glanced at casually<\/p>\n
dismissed from attention.<\/p>\n
One has to make an effort of sorts.<\/p>\n
Stop for a while …bend a bit perhaps.<\/p>\n
Go down curious on one’s knees<\/p>\n
Get closer to where they are ensconced<\/p>\n
To notice their unassuming grandeur<\/p>\n
To enjoy their subtle splendour<\/p>\n
The ordinary is not ordinary any more.<\/p>\n
And one can sit down there for a season<\/p>\n
in meditative serenity and celebration…..<\/p>\n
That happens with people too.<\/p>\n
it is important that\u00a0we take time off and pause<\/p>\n
so that\u00a0we might \u00a0be graced by\u00a0beauty and wonder<\/p>\n
that is so often\u00a0 wrapped up \u00a0in\u00a0 the ordinary<\/p>\n
that is sometimes the way in which<\/p>\n
the truly beautiful comes across.<\/p>\n
They pass me by on the corridors,<\/p>\n
I meet them in the classrooms,<\/p>\n
they drift into my office,<\/p>\n
I walk by them in other places.<\/p>\n
Sometimes they are boldly present.<\/p>\n
Often they are hesitantly hovering<\/p>\n
on the fringe borders of my own attention<\/p>\n
A recognition, a welcome smile,<\/p>\n
shared coffee or snacks, a brief interlude,<\/p>\n
I now see the flowers for what they are in bloom.<\/p>\n
Every encounter is a blessing.<\/p>\n
Sometimes obvious, sometimes disguised.<\/p>\n
And I have to take those breaks and open myself<\/p>\n
to the enrichment that comes to me<\/p>\n
from the country flowers that I am surrounded by…<\/p>\n
Thank you for the beautiful that you are in my life.<\/p>\n
Thanks for the beautiful that you add to my life….<\/p>\n
And my road more or less travelled<\/p>\n
is colourful and bright and enjoyable<\/p>\n
because your person and your presence<\/p>\n
