My new room in the Fathers\u2019 Quarters is ready and I have shifted there already. It is a quaint room in the older part of the building and has a heritage wooden floor and a quite heritage wooden this-way-that-way multi-sloping ceiling. All the furniture is quite heritage too. All of this makes me fit in quite comfortably considering that just now I am one of the older fathers in the community!!<\/p>\n
After the news about my leaving the hostel went public I have been getting a number of mails congratulating me and wishing me a happy retirement!<\/p>\n
Jesuits only retire when they are buried… so I thought I would clarify things a bit.<\/p>\n
That last mail of mine was not about \u201cmoving away\u201d but about \u201cmoving on\u201d.. and I like the positive flavour that has about it. It is always nice to be moving on….<\/p>\n

It’s lonely out there oftentimes<\/p>\n
long distances\u00a0yet longer\u00a0run<\/p>\n
through less traversed new wooded paths<\/p>\n
light shadow patterns ever change<\/p>\n
dreams silently\u00a0quick pace pursued<\/p>\n
ne’er fully sure\u00a0 what lies ahead.<\/p>\n
And yet the will to run, run on<\/p>\n
committed to the dream once had<\/p>\n
assurance\u00a0known, fulfilment hoped<\/p>\n
attained with steadfast effort made.<\/p>\n
Much\u00a0easier to stop and say:<\/p>\n
“Enough! I’ve had enough!” Return<\/p>\n
to old familiar\u00a0 paths devoid<\/p>\n
of charm and challenge, wreck debris<\/p>\n
already lived, now safer lives.<\/p>\n
Sunrise, sunset day after day<\/p>\n
the yet again but safe routine<\/p>\n
through second-handed\u00a0bygone dreams.<\/p>\n
The challenge is to run, run on<\/p>\n
new paths discover, newer scenes<\/p>\n
to newer quests, horizons reached<\/p>\n
beyond horizons distant seen<\/p>\n
an invitation\u00a0yet beyond<\/p>\n
with joy accepted, hope pursued<\/p>\n
fleet\u00a0footed spirit winged soul<\/p>\n
to soarings trans-ethereal.<\/p>\n
Quite\u00a0suddenly the bridge is crossed<\/p>\n
and one arrives to joy surprise<\/p>\n
unchartered heavens way beyond<\/p>\n
to\u00a0stars no mortal eyes can see.<\/p>\n
Behind a journey much enjoyed<\/p>\n
ahead the\u00a0skies and so much more<\/p>\n
of life and wonders yet to be.<\/p>\n
So I will run, run on till life<\/p>\n
and breath still run run on in me…..<\/p>\n

I must admit that the breathing gets a bit heavier and the running gets a little slower as one grows older… but run\u00a0 on I will….<\/p>\n
And if one considers this running metaphorically, as it is meant to be, then one can run all the way from the hostel to the Father\u2019s quarters and to wherever horizons beyond.<\/p>\n
New FYJC admissions are over and there are fresh and enthusiastic additions to my activities here.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile went through (actually still going through) a bad patch of fever\/body-ache\/throat inflammation and related things over the last ten days. Viral fever? Feel better but not yet on top of things….The restful weekend should help…<\/p>\n
More run run ons in life to you as well! And it is good that we bump into each other and run run along together every once in a while even as we differently run run on wonderful distances to exciting destinations.<\/p>\n
