Meanwhile it isn’t Christmas yet. …it is the last week of Advent preparation…. and the eastern skies are slowly beginning to glow.
December 21st is the shortest day of the year but the skies know that something startling is about to happen. So they get themselves ready… shrugging off the dark of night and stirring up an awakening warm glow presence that stretches out across the their wide expanse…
One does not have to raise one’s head and look up to see this. The glow presence is inside us as well for all the preparation we have been making during these waiting-in-hope days of advent.

Dark shadow land surrenders slow
Wholeheartedly to growing glow
all earth and sky will light again
rejoicing in redeeming reign…
within my heart new flame is lit
and burns with hope-oil poured… for with
the pass of days new age will dawn
as God on earth as child is born.

It is going to be a good week for me surely, not rushed and nothing heavy happening. There will be visits from friends returning from abroad, a wedding to attend and general cleaning up and getting ready for the Christmas holidays. And, of course, the happy time meeting and catching up with family over Christmas lunch….plus other surprise things for sure…
And the week after that leads to the new year. Lots to look forward to there !
