My dear
It’s been a long time and this is a good season to renew connections….
December swifts by in subtle stealth. Quiet… suddenly… another day and night…..and a week goes by advancing up to surfacing moods of joy and expectation of soon-to-be celebration times.
Christians are in the Advent season just now… in preparation for the wonders of peace and joy that is special to the Christmas season. There is much to look forward to.
Been there… done that …..and it is a time for renewal to go ahead and do something else…..

Dump yard clutter
discarded broken wood
furniture once sleek
rosewood and teak
table tops and legs
armchairs and stools
rough scrapped now
condemned to fatal dispose…
nascent glory blooms
shoot leaf and flower
radiating promise
of what can yet reclaim
advent : blessing drizzle
re-offered invitation
transforming grace
can make us whole again!
terryq: dec.2012
From drizzle to showers of blessing during this season of hope… for you… for me.. for everyone!
College days are appropriately festive but not about Advent or Christmas just now. College Feast (Dec.3rd) with traditional day (dresswise) glitter and dazzle. Plays and musicals, departmental exhibitions and festivals, media conferences and serious stuff, loads of other things leading to Christmas carols and a possible special lunch for all of the staff.
Nor many know it but I am currently the senior-most staff member here. Retirement age here is 60. As a counsellor who is not on the University payroll there is no retirement age for me. So at 67 I am the oldest staff member. And likely to be that for many more years to come! No special privileges but that does not matter. I have more than enough from life so I am nowhere near deprived or covetous of anything I do not have…
Nice way to be …and I would not want to exchange my life for anything else in the world just now.
Occasionally there is a temporary trough, especially healthwise, but I take the recommended medications and life goes back to even keel again.
Tomorrow is the last day before the Christmas break. And 10 days of celebration after that! YYYAAAYYY!
And the weather is cool-comfortable-friendly again. So all is in place and moving ahead beautifully.
Hope it is way better than that for you… and getting even better by the day!
Take care. Much love, Terry
