FOR ALL THE THINGS YOU MAKE US DO
For all the things you make us do
like bends and twists till we are blue
right in the face. Each standing pose
from crown of head to tips of toes.
Like going heels up over head.
“Full arms balance. Begin.” you said.
“Exhale, descend, on platform stand
and bend from waist. Stretch out your hands
until your fingers reach the floor.
Inhale, exhale, and bend some more!”
( We did our best, we really tried.
We bended till we almost died!)
We stretch, the platform edge we clasp.
Our “normal” breathing comes in gasps!.
“ Exhale and up. Now standing pose.
Tadasana right from head to toes.
Shoulders rolled back, now stand upright.
Your buttocks grip with all your might!”
“Inhale and jump, three feet apart.
It’s good for liver, lungs and heart.
Trikonasana- turn and bend.
Release your spine from end to end.
Up and around, the other side.
Narrow waist. Chest open wide.
Feet together. Jump once again.
Not just with the body. Use your brain!”
Five feet apart, bend your right knee,
your weight distribute equally.
Right palm upon the floor, now twist
and stretch your arm, hand and wrist
from shoulder joint to fingertips.
Relax your forehead, neck and hips (!)
Left side. Breathe only from your nose.
Your anal mouth completely close!
Utanasana as much you can
your tailbone to the ceiling fan.
Erect now, in Tadasana freeze
Join thighs and chips of inner knees
The next pose that just must be done
is Parsvottanasana
Although your bodies may be sore
this is a real relaxing pose.
Contract your perineum please
wherever you may think it is!
Uttanasana once again.
Don’t mind the agony, the pain
is healthy. Only if you’re dead
you won’t feel pain. Lower your head
until it’s like a falling fruit.
Your palms on floor besides each foot.
Inhale, ascend, let’s have a break.
Don’t give up now for heaven’s sake!”
We did all this and so much more,
we tried Sirsasana on the floor
with shoulders raised and legs alive
and variations four and five!
Then back again to other things
like forward bends and wonderings
if we would last until the end
with seven different backward bends,
to prove to us that we were tough
you really took us very far
with twenty surya namaskars!
When all of this was said and done
you soothed us with savasana
flat on our backs upon the ground
we sensed each inner body sound
whisper in our inner ears
a sense of peace, of quiet cheer.
Our faces calmed with gentle smiles
the super session was worthwhile!
