FOR MUMU
It was nice
being
with you again
sharing
new times
and seasons
walking
once again
on beaches
and shores
and sunlit patches
making
fresh footprints
patterning
places we’ve been to
and criss-crossing
other memories
of earlier times
together.
It’s always nice
spending time
with you.
We’re older now –
I, much more than you –
settled in dreams
we’ve dreamed
making possible
all that can happen.
The light
in your eyes speaks
of quiet fulfilment
and reassuring confidence
towards challenges
yet to come.
That light
strengthens me too
as I continue
making my own dreams happen.
The beach sands
keep shifting
changing patterns
altering memories
and traces
of bygone days.
What remains
are seasons
within us.
Seasons
we return to _
sunrise and shadows playing games
in the ebb and flow
of sea shore waves
that add up
to our lives.
There’s sunshine too
and rainbows
summer showers
and evening breezes
every dawn promising new miracles.
God keeps blessing me
with beautiful people
I can share my beach with
And I learn about
other beaches and skies.
Life is never
lived alone _
Pain and joy
borne and celebrated
with those we love.
And each of us
more enriched and grown
because of this.
I’m glad I walked
into the “woods” long ago
to meet you there.
The woods now
more lovely and deep.
I await the promises.
Take care, girl
and continue
blessing the world
by who you are
and what you do. ( Nov . ’96)
