My dear

Once more from my garden…..

Adenium is a genus of flowering plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae

.

Cultivation and uses

Adenium obesum is grown as a houseplant in temperate regions. Numerous hybrids have been developed. Adeniums are appreciated for their colorful flowers, but also for their unusual, thick caudices. They can be grown for many years in a pot and are commonly used for bonsai.

Because seed-grown plants are not genetically identical to the mother plant, desirable varieties are commonly propagated by grafting. Genetically identical plants can also be propagated by cutting. However, cutting-grown plants do not tend to develop a desirable thick caudex as quickly as seed-grown plants.

The sap of Adenium boehmianumA. multiflorum, and A. obesum contains toxic cardiac glycosides and is used as arrow poison throughout Africa for hunting large game.

In my garden again

So much like

the earlier rose

Adenium cycle

bud to bloom

Twice over

Come and gone

But just for now

They will return

When things are right…

it is nice to quiet wait

for bud to bloom

in the mostly green

of my garden

it is nice to hopeful wait

for good to bloom

in the sometimes ordinary

of my life….

I was out last Saturday/part Sunday at Sangamner in Ahmednagar district (4hours by car either way) celebrating a golden jubilee with a Jesuit companion of mine. Great time meeting up with people I have not met for more than 40 years! Came back on Sunday morning and dashed off that same evening for a wedding. I left at 8pm and returned at 8.30 pm.

This was the fastest wedding I have ever been to … for two reasons.

First : the wedding venue was nearby at a

hall near Gowalia Tank.

Second : the wedding was the following day – Monday!! I had gone there a whole day earlier!

This is the second time I have done something like this. The last time I went for a wedding to far away Nerul a whole month before the wedding!!! And I am supposed to be a meticulously organised person, regular diary and all!

I guess old age is finally catching up with me!

Quite a week this past one! Tuesday holiday – YYYAAAAAYYYYYYYY ! Made use of it by visiting family in Khandivali (nephew/wife/baby.. come down from Muskat) and Malad (brother/wife … come down from Dubai).

Wednesday/Thursday there was this maybe Bharat Bandh.

Sunday , this evening, there is the TY farewell and I  also have a wedding reception I will be going for….

As you can see, I am  happily busy…

Not much else except for the surprises that sometimes come up in life. When one is as old as I am it is easier to deal with the surprises – good or not-so-good. In the end , one makes the necessary equations and everything falls into place.

Like I keep saying, life goes on…..

May it go on for you too ….. as beautifully as it can be!

Take care, Love, Terry

I spend some daily time in my garden and connect with the learnings from the green and colourful there. Wasn’t too high on this earlier. Maybe it was a reaction to the years I spent watering the large gardens my father had in the Navy bungalows we used to live in. Gardening and plants came into my life seriously maybe just four years ago…. and I am glad about it!

I am sure my dad up there is glad about it too!

All else well and I am looking forward to another wonder week!

You take care. Stay well. Do well.

Love, Terry
