AND I WILL WAIT FOR YOU
And I will wait for you
for a longer while still
and after that
yet a longer while
with the dream
that you will return.
Like the beach
that awaits in quiet
for the ebbing tide,
or the still warm empty nest
for the wandering starling,
or the night sky
for the morning sunrise.
What is time
or the passing of the hours
when there are dreams and hopes?
Seasons must sequence one another
must they not?
And every year has its spring
of birdsong and blossoms.
So I will re-sing the melodies
of magic yesterdays
and compose a new symphony
for tomorrow
as I wait for you
for a longer while
and after that
for a little longer still…..
