BIRTHDAY VERSE
Some sunny day not long from now
when you’re just twenty-one
a whiskered withered aged man
whose life is almost done
will wobble up to where you sit
and whisper in your ear
’tis Terence come again to wish you
happy birthday, dear. ( Carol)
Although the daily wear and tear
quite drives you to the brink
take a break from unmade beds
and stuff that clogs the sink
just wake up fine and full of fun
and do just what you want to
and listen to the world around
sing happy birthday to you. ( Flo)
You begged and pleaded for my hand
my days and dreams you haunted
in desperation I gave in
not quite the way you wanted.
