BIRTHDAY WISHES (JULIA) 21 / 7 / 75
If Shakespeare saw you passing by
he’d write a thousand sonnets
Picasso would have washed the sky
and painted you upon it.
While poets,painters,men of fame
would rant and rave and marvel,
Mike Angelo, he would have carved
a raphsody in marble.
Beside you, Cleopatra would
just stand no chance whatever
and jealous Mona Lisa would
have lost her smile forever.
If Helen launched a thousand ships
and caused such a commotion
for every one of Helen’s, ten
for you would brave the oceans.
Columbus, for a glimpse of you
would have discovered India:
to cover you, old Santa Claus
would skin his favourite reindeer.
And every glamour magazine
would have you on its cover
beside you poor miss world would look
like cactus near a flower.
For you great men of might and fame
would strive and toll and never rest,
e’en Tenzing with a broken leg
would have ascended Everest.
And Freud would have one endless dream
beyond interpretation
and cloistered monks would leap their walls
at risk of exclaustration.
Against these men of eminence
we cannot hold a candle,
and colours,verse and music too
are more than we can handle.
With limited resources we
by force have generated
the following simple birthday verse
to you we’ve dedicated:
WATCH OUT FOR A YOUNG GIRL NAMED JULIA
IF SHE GETS HALF A CHANCE SHE WILL FOOL-YA
SHE WILL GIGGLE AND SCREAM
DANCE A GIG INBETWEEN
AND SLIP ICE DOWN YOUR BACK JUST TO COOL-YA!
