Here are musings of mine for the Christmas event…

montage : terryq
I have been looking up at the skies
for a little while now.
Voices -some whispered, some joyous –
tell me that soon
there will be a strange new star
in the eastern sky.
Lost amid the million and more stars
already there.
And yet seen clearly
by anyone who is looking for it.
Not everybody sees or can see
this special star.
One has to face upwards, surely.
And even with one’s face turned upwards,
one must have one’s eyes open.
Even that is not enough, they tell me.
The heart must also be open.
Open and clear.
Clear enough,
like a still, calm hallowed pool
to catch the reflection of this special star
and to allow its inner depth presence
to work transforming miracles within.
It is not just an ordinary star.
It looks ordinary, though.
When one is millions of miles away,
most things look the same.
But with eyes and heart open,
one gets a closer look at the special star.
And one sees colours and shapes
that one cannot see from further away.
Rainbow colours. Dancing shapes.
Inviting…. transforming….
Inviting onwards towards Bethlehem.
Across rough and arduous terrain.
Through sometime dark nights
and a feeling of being lost and unsure.
Through doubts
about where all this is leading to.
Through encounters
with smooth-talking Herod-types.
And one keeps on looking upwards in hope
Till the star is seen again.
And one follows faithfully.
Till the star comes to rest over a stable.
And in the grandeur of divine simplicity
one meets the Christ-child
and offers gifts of life and love.
Gold, frankincense and myrrh…
The transforming miracle begins.
Life can never be the same again…

And peace on earth to all of good will……
Blessings of peace and joy
for the Christmas season…
and all through the new year.!!
