Death still stalks the night
silenced now the banshee yowling
God is dead! your God is dead!
Gloating taunts simmer down
in sated triumph
mortal sting of death
spectres around enclosed tomb.
ominous night ticks on
Enshrouding sombre gloom
And then quite suddenly
Quite quietly a gentle stirring
Leaves hush rustle
The earth soft shudders
hesitant arousing
To momentous happening.
guarded tombstone rocks awhile
Then heaves gently aside
refulgent light within
Emerges in blurring glow
He lightly steps outside
Understanding smile
On radiant face
Confronting disbelief
“I said I would and I have…
Go and tell the world…”
rapturous morning mist
Envelopes all of him
Like a whisper he is gone…
Until another time…
And yet another time
Yet again and always…
