GANJAD )- A SECOND GLANCE 2 . 9 . 77
1. we tread along
footsteps light
upon the yielding grass.
The grass
springs back again
the path lost behind us.
We hurry on
to what awaits us
yet another
yesterday……..
2. ….not e’en a whisper heard
of other roads
of other ways
shuttle space flight or
man on the moon.
The world begins and ends
the old familiar cart-track
takes us round and round
from where to where…….
3. calloused hands
corns perhaps
an aching back
the noonday heat
a different kind
of sweet smell.
The price to pay
for just a little bit
of sharing…..
4. to discover
together
and yet all alone
perhaps another way.
Beneath the scorching sun
the gentle earth responds.
5. the sun above
the earth below
and i between –
the peacemaker.
Somehow i get by
with a little help
from my friends.
6. passing people
they smile at me
i hear them say
that this thing
upon my head was never meant
to be a hat , –
it has another use.
Will someone please
S T O P –
and show me
what you mean….
